A new campus for Cardiff Met University was proposed at the north western corner of the Brains Brewery site, renamed Cardiff Central Quay, forming part of mixed used urban regeneration project, a continuation of the Central Square project to the north. This was to be a factory of ideas, promoting transparency, entrepreneurial spirit and innovation at its heart. The design of this campus sought to invert the traditional university model by creating a highly permeable building with multiple entry points, large flexible adaptable volumes for overlapping learning mixed with enterprise and research. An ‘Innovation Turbine’.
