Hong Kong International Airport provided the opportunity to contribute towards a classic Foster + Partner’s project in collaboration with the Mott Consortium consultant on-site team on the passenger terminal. Over three and a half years roles varied from general planning, to details of systems such as specialist desking, the check-in islands and baggage reclaim units, the airport people mover, partitions, ceilings, the coordination of services and specialist systems such as the baggage handling system, assisting the project manager throughout the execution of the construction contracts. This on site work represented an exponential learning curve not only in the art of construction but also in the detailed workings of airport buildings that later served to lead the design on Beijing Airport.
