A highly impactful two week input into the conceptual resolution of this 247m tall tower in central Calgary gave definition to its form and symbolism. The simple rectilinear geometry was tapered gradually from its expressed base to the top, opening up to the sky to reflect the Prairie and Rocky mountain landscape beyond. The tower top is therefore an ‘inverted’ beacon not seeking to announce itself, but to bring the vast surrounds that city represents to the heart of its city.
